Government

The Village of Newburgh Heights is divided into two governing bodies: Executive (Mayor) and Legislative (Village Council). Together, these two bodies function to provide the citizens of Newburgh Heights with a transparent and efficient government.

Office of the Mayor

The Mayor serves as the Chief Executive Officer and Safety Director of Newburgh Heights and is responsible for the everyday management of the Village and ensuring all laws and ordinances enacted by council are enforced. The Mayor’s duties include the administrative, legislative and judicial functions of the local government and appointment of persons serving on boards, commissions, with Council approval. The Mayor serves as President of Council and Board President of the Community Improvement Corporation.

Village Council

The Village Council serves as the village’s legislative body. There are five elected council members representing the Village of Newburgh Heights. The five members of Council, along with the Mayor, act only by ordinance, resolution, or motion to carry out the business of the local government.

Meetings

  • 7:30 p.m.
  • Monthly on the 1st Tuesday

During the months of January, July, and September Village Council meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month only.  No regular Council meeting is held during the month of August. All Council meetings are open to the public.
